Laxmi Pariyar
Laxmi Pariyar is a 35-year-old female artisan from Nuwakot, and has been part of the Student Handicrafts workshop in Thamel, Kathmandu since 2015. She brings 12 years of craft experience to her role as senior garment sewist.
About Laxmi
Joined our workshop the year of the 2015 Nepal earthquake — a moment of upheaval that brought many craftspeople to the city looking for steady work. Like the rest of our artisan network, Laxmi is paid above the regional industry rate and receives steady year-round work — a deliberate departure from the piece-work model that dominates much of South Asia’s handicraft export trade.
Craft & specialism
Laxmi’s focus is Sewing, garments. She is part of a 50-plus-person artisan team that hand-makes every product Student Handicrafts exports to importers, retailers, and private-label brands across 80+ countries. Every piece carries an origin card listing the artisan and the district of Nepal where it was made — buyers who source from us can verify, in writing, who made what they sell.
